How an Inclusive Dance Company Rebounded Their Idaho Gives Results With a Strategic Campaign Plan
The Challenge
Open Arms Dance Project is known for creating powerful, inclusive performances that unite dancers of all abilities and backgrounds. But translating that magic into messaging, especially during Idaho Gives, was sometimes a challenge.
In previous Idaho Gives campaigns, the organization raised between $3,000 and $6,000. For 2024, they set a bold stretch goal of $10,000 — more than they’d ever raised before.
The Solution
Through a Sprig campaign giveaway, Open Arms won free strategic campaign support just weeks before Idaho Gives. Together, we kicked off with a discovery session to align on goals, audience, and capacity. Then, Sprig conducted in-depth research to understand the organization’s unique story and donor landscape.
From there, two creative campaign concepts were developed for the team to react to, each designed to connect emotionally while motivating action. Once the favorite direction was chosen, Sprig built out:
A tailored campaign plan, including content and communications tactics
Board member and fundraising champion talking points
Content for the giving page, social media, emails, and individual donor outreach
A PR angle for earned media
The Results
While Open Arms didn’t quite hit their stretch goal, their campaign was a major rebound from the previous year’s dip. They:
Raised $5,145 from more than 50 donors, nearly doubling the previous year’s efforts
Welcomed new audience members at their final performance
Gained the tools and confidence to continue growing their fundraising strategy.
The Takeaway
Even when timelines are tight, a strong campaign framework and clear message can reenergize an organization’s donor base and bring new supporters into the fold. For Open Arms Dance Project, the experience wasn’t just about one campaign; it was about learning how to share their story in a way that moves people to act.
